Sauron may have Horror Archivesfallen (spoiler!) at the end of The Lord of the Rings, but his all-seeing eye lives on in our memories.

And, as it turns out, in our doorbells.

On Wednesday night, Spokane, Washington-based artist Travis Chapman shared a picture of this ominous beauty. The caption simply reads: "I upgraded my doorbell camera."

Now thatis an upgrade. If it doesn't deter unwanted visitors, then frankly we don't know what will.

Chapman told Mashable he got the idea because of the widespread use of security cameras.

"I am a Lord of the Ringsfan and I always liked the Eye of Sauron, it is so menacing," he said. "I made the connection that I literally had a little eye on my front doorstep, and it was something I could make."

The finished product took Chapman around five hours to make.

"I used a jigsaw to cut the shape out of masonite and then painted it with acrylic (which is the medium I am most comfortable with)," said Chapman. "I drilled the holes for the camera and doorbell button and trimmed things to make it fit properly."

Chapman shared a photo of the doorbell on Reddit's r/Pics sub, where it quickly went viral.

Points too to u/BroccoliPocket, who was quick to lock down the top comment with this much-needed joke:

Chapman said he's happy that people seem to like his creation.

"I make a lot of art and post it on social media," he said. "You never know what is going to catch on so I don’t get my hopes up, but it’s nice to get some positive feedback."
